The Healthcare Services Cluster in Columbus, Indiana

 

Columbus, located within southeastern Indiana, is a regional economic hub for healthcare services.

 

Columbus is home to more than 200 healthcare and related practices and firms  employing over 4,000 employees representing almost $160 million in annual earnings.

 

It is also the home of Columbus Regional Hospital which is recognized as one of the top-rated hospitals in Indiana.  The Columbus Regional Hospital Foundation recently commissioned a study conducted by Dr. John Peck of QUANTECH Research Associates to try to quantify the economic impact the hospital has on the community. Overall, the study shows that in 2004, CRH produced $250 million in area income and created 3,209 new jobs in the local area - dollars and jobs that would not otherwise exist locally in the absence of Columbus Regional Hospital.

  • Columbus Regional Hospital is the recipient of the 2007 American Hospital Association (AHA) – McKesson Quest for Quality Prize®, the highest quality honor awarded annually by the hospital industry. Columbus Regional Hospital is the first hospital in Indiana to be awarded the Quest for Quality Prize.

  • Accreditations & Recognitions:

    • Magnet Nursing Accreditation, first Indiana hospital with designation 

    • Primary Stroke Center, national designation by JCAHO

    • Accredited Chest Pain Center, national accreditation by the Society of Chest Pain Centers
